What is MBTI? And what do those alphabets mean?
Hey there 👋 Welcome to the world of MBTI!
If you’ve ever wondered “Why do I love Netflix binges alone, while my bestie wants to drag me to every party?” or “Why does my colleague need a color-coded plan, while I just wing it and still survive?” — MBTI might give you some clues.
MBTI (Myers–Briggs Type Indicator), also known as the 16 personalities, is a fun tool to explore your personality. It’s not about putting you in a box, but about showing you your natural preferences. The whole thing runs on four pairs of letters: I/E, N/S, T/F, and J/P.
Let’s decode them one by one.
-----
🌍 I vs. E — Where do you get your energy?
Emma after work: “No parties please. Just me, my blanket, and Spotify.”
James after work: “The night is young, let’s go karaoke!”
-----
🔎 N vs. S — How do you see the world?
A friend says, “The bus is late again.” The S-type replies: “Yeah, traffic is bad today. That’s life.”
Same bus delay. The N-type thinks: “What if we redesigned the whole city’s transport system? Imagine a future with flying buses.”
-----
💭 T vs. F — How do you decide?
Buying a laptop: “This one has more RAM. End of story.”
Choosing vacation spot: “Okay fine, let’s go to Disneyland, so everyone’s happy.”
-----
📅 J vs. P — How do you deal with the outside world?
Trip planner: Already booked flights, hotels, and museum tickets three months ahead.
Trip planner: “Got my backpack, we’ll see where I end up tomorrow.”
-----
🧩 So what’s your type?
You pick one from each pair, and that gives you a four-letter type.
There are 16 possible combos, but remember: you’re more than just four letters. Think of MBTI like a mirror — it reflects how you see the world, but it doesn’t define your entire story.
